1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
