The most effective robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves them spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
robot hoover uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would expect from its price tag. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
